I went to the Empowerhouse construction site for the first time yesterday and was amazed to see how much of the house has been completed. Their projected date of completion isn’t until the fall, but it seems they’ve come a long way already. Empowerhouse is a two-family dwelling, like a duplex. One half is farther along than the other because that is the half that was built on the National Mall last summer during the 2011 U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon. These are pictures of volunteers from Habitat for Humanity D.C. and AmeriCorp working on the site, details of the new house, and pictures of the neighborhood.
